If you aren’t already making bone broth regularly, I’d encourage you to start as it's one of the most healing foods for the digestive system. You can sip it straight, especially if you’re sick, or add to recipes.
Benefits of Bone Broth:
Rich in protein, amino acids, minerals & collagen
Reduces joint pain and inflammation
Improves your immune system - especially helpful when you’re sick
Treats leaky gut syndrome - The gelatin in the bones help seal up holes in intestines which helps with food intolerances and allergies
I used the bones from my whole chicken recipe posted a couple of days ago. I also used the instant pot as you get the same amazing benefits without cooking for 8+ hours on the stove top.
Save the bones anytime you cook meat and store in the freezer, along with vegetable scraps. You can also find meat bones sold in most Asian markets.
Instant Pot Bone Broth
Use any bones from chicken, turkey, beef, or pork.
Add any combination of aromatics/vegetables such as carrots, celery, onion, ginger, garlic, leeks, mushrooms, herbs, etc.
Add water to the max line.
Add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice which helps break down the bones.
Add 2 teaspoons each salt and pepper.
Cook on manual high pressure for 2 hours with Natural Release or cook for 8-10 hours on stove top.
Taste and add more salt and pepper to your taste.
