Pickled Red Onions

Pickled red onions are so addictive, easy to make and great anytime you need to add some zing to your dish such as sandwiches, burgers, eggs, tacos, meats, salads, or pizza. They will last about 2 weeks in the fridge and the flavor gets better as the onions marinate.

Picked Red Onions

Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar ( or white vinegar)

1 teaspoon salt

1-2 Tablespoons sweetener ( honey, sugar, etc.)

Optional: red pepper flakes or peppercorns

1 medium red onion, peeled and thinly sliced

Directions

Into a saucepan, stir in water, apple cider vinegar, salt and sugar. Heat until the sugar has dissolved, then turn off the heat. While it cools, slice the onions and place in a container or jar and pour the mixture over the onions.

Secure with a lid and give it a shake to combine the ingredients. Let marinate for at least an hour or place in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
