
A delicious spin on the classic sandwich, which is easy to prepare, low in carbs and gluten free.
Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers
Ingredients
3 bell peppers, cut in half, seeds and ribs removed
olive oil
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 sirloin steak, sliced ( can use ground beef)
salt and pepper
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce ( optional)
1/2 - 1 onion, sliced
1-2 cups mushrooms, sliced
1 Tablespoon butter (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1-2 cups mozzarella cheese or provolone
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a baking dish or sheet with cooking spray.
Cut the peppers in half lengthwise and remove seeds and ribs. Drizzle/brush with olive oil and bake for 20 minutes while you prepare the filling.
Slice the steak and season with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet and sauté for couple of minutes to brown.. Add Worcestershire and continue to sauté for a couple of minutes. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté the onions for a few minutes. Add mushrooms and sauté for a few minutes. Add in butter, steak , salt and pepper and and stir to combine.
Remove the peppers from the oven and stuff each pepper with the steak filling. Top with cheese and bake for 10 minutes or until the peppers are soft.
