Korean Braised Potatoes ( Gamja Jorim) is a popular and easy side dish made with potatoes and other simple ingredients. Customize this recipe by adding onions, bell peppers, garlic, or add Korean red pepper flakes for spice.

Korean Braised Potatoes

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon olive oil

1 pound potatoes, halved (baby potatoes) or cubed in bite sized pieces (larger potatoes)

3/4 cup water

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 Tablespoons honey, corn syrup or brown sugar

1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

Sesame seeds for garnish

Directions

Heat oil in a skillet. Add the potatoes and sauté for about 5 minutes or until slightly browned.

In a measuring cup, add water, soy sauce, and honey. Add to the potatoes and bring to a boil. Cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the liquid has evaporated, stirring often. You can cover with a lid for the potatoes to cook faster (time will depend on the type and size of potatoes used).

Stir in sesame oil and sesame seeds and cook for about a minute. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Can be served warm or cold.
